A.J. Barkaway Ltd. has been serving the population of Faversham and its surrounding areas for over fifty years! The shop in West Street is currently run by Chris Barkaway and his son Paul who are the fifth and sixth generations of the family to become butchers.

The family and staff pride themselves on providing only the highest quality fresh meat products, which are where possible locally sourced and hand-picked directly from the farm by Chris and Paul.

As well as locally sourced free-range meat products they also have a thriving pie and sausage trade for which they have won numerous awards including three times winner of ‘Best Sausage in Kent’, ‘Best Pork Pie in Kent’ and also two times winner of ‘Best Kent Butcher’.

The shop is one of only a handful in Kent to be accepted into the ‘Butcher’s Q Guild’. This is an organisation that demands superior quality, service and hygiene, with annual inspections to ensure levels are maintained.

For many years deliveries have been made locally to pubs and retail customers, but the service is now being extended to online ordering and deliveries further a field.
